Meet Martel Van Zant
Born and raised in Tyler, Texas, Martel Van Zant has built his career on perseverance, athletic excellence, and a passion for helping others succeed. Born deaf after his mother contracted chickenpox during pregnancy, Martel pursued his education in mainstream schools, learning American Sign Language in preschool while overcoming challenges that shaped his determination and resilience.
A gifted multi-sport athlete, Martel found his greatest passion on the football field. As a standout player at Robert E. Lee High School, he earned the attention of Coach Les Miles, receiving a football scholarship to Oklahoma State University. Following college, Martel continued his athletic career by playing three seasons in the Arena Football League and participating in workouts with several NFL organizations before returning home to Tyler.
Today, Martel is dedicated to developing the next generation of athletes. Combining the principles of Pilates with advanced strength and performance training, he offers a comprehensive approach to athletic development. His expertise in speed, agility, explosive power, and functional movement helps athletes improve performance while building a strong foundation for long-term success.
Known for recording a 4.3-second 40-yard dash, Martel specializes in speed development and performance enhancement. He works with athletes of all ages and skill levels, creating individualized training programs that build strength, confidence, and resilience both on and off the field.
